每年在捷克布尔诺举行的“列奥西·扬那切克” 国际音乐比赛是以捷克伟大的作曲家列奥西·扬那切克的名字命名的，扬那切克出生于一个贫困的教师家庭。童年时参加过教会的唱诗班。20岁时进入布拉格管风琴学校学习键盘乐器和歌唱，并在莱比锡和维也纳的音乐学校短期进修。
23岁时，列奥西·扬那切克在布鲁诺师范学校任教。此间，他搜集整理了捷克主要地区摩拉维亚的民歌，并积极培养摩拉维亚的民族音乐人才。列奥西·扬那切克曾担任过布拉格音乐学院教授、捷克科学院院士、摩拉维亚作曲家协会主席。
这个比赛的门类有弦乐四重奏，小提琴，钢琴，管风琴，大提琴，低音提琴，长笛，单簧管，法国号，大号，每五年轮流一次举行。 该比赛是由列奥西·扬那切克音乐和表演艺术大学音乐系举办的，并且得到了布尔诺市政府，南摩拉维亚地区，列奥西·扬那切克基金会，捷克以及当地的一些音乐机构的赞助。
2016年第22届捷克“列奥西·扬那切克”的比赛项目是大号和法国圆号，比赛将于2015年9月20日-25日在捷克的布尔诺举行。
